any teeth at all!
Plus a lot of other cool loot.
Of course of all the new toys, Freddy's fave is the piece of cardboard someone left on the floor and the old remote control for the TV.
Zilch, on the other hand, made enthusiastic use of his new toy - a doggy pacifier - which lasted approximately one hour before torn into many small blue pieces that Freddy enjoyed tracking down on the dining room floor.
Merry Christmas and Happy 2008 to everyone! Love from Nina, John, and the star of it all - FRD!

So Long Sickies
Poooooor Freddy had a nasty bug this week - his first fullblown fever, soar throat, sniffles, and cough. Which he kindly passed along to his mom and then his dad. Suffice to say, everyone was just miserable. But thankfully he woke up this morning (day 7!!) with a little sparkle back in his big eyes and no fever, so he seems to be on the mend. Let the celebrations begin.
By the way, John and I remember at our baby shower during Casey's game we both said we wouldn't cut Freddy's hair until he was 18 months (and that's HALF as long as we would have to wait if we were going to follow the Jewish Orthodox tradition), but these ear curls are getting ridiculous. I mean, adorable, but still ridiculous. He gets his hair caught in in ears, in fact. Is it already time for a trim?

Fall Comes to the Boro
During last week's "cold snap" FRD discovered how hilarious being bundled up can be.
And how relaxing.
The cold brings additional fun activities such as learning to play with fire.
And trick-or-treating as the Scariest Candy Corn Vampire on Walker Avenue.
To escape the cold, Freddy headed south for the first time to Charleston where he enjoyed pointing at palm trees, ducks, and ceiling fans. What a vacation!
Oh yeah - and I had to include this shot of Ole Farmer Fred practicing shutting the door. Apparently, this is a very complex endeavor that must be worked on whenever a door is in sight. Aieeeeeee little fingers!

Curlylocks Update
Where did this kid come from?
Freddy and his much-adored nanny, Stephanie.
Fred and his playgroup mates, Camille and Grady, literally playing.
Will you please stop taking my picture?
FRD looks so much like someone here, and I can't place it. Is it Charlie? My mom? Any thoughts?

Mad Max and Freaky Freddy
Check out this duo of impishness. We had such a lovely time visiting with our friends Max and Lisa when they came to visit us today. Max provided Freddy with an excellent lesson in all things adorable and truck-focused. He was even so generous as to willingly allow Freddy to suck on his beloved dump truck.
Well, sort of willingly.
Thank goodness there's always hamming to pass the time while sharing.
But seriously Mom? Do you see this? Who does this little guy think he is?

The War on Terror
Freddy the Great was sitting around this weekend with his folks talking about the Ken Burns documentary and all this Petraeus business and he got wondering how the war really is going and if there is anything he can do to hasten its end.
Then he reminded us of one of those inspirational speeches our president made a few years back, discussing the hunt for bin Laden, when we all had a clearer view of what this was all about. The part we all remembered best was when Bush said: "He's on the run. Listen, a while ago, I said to the American people, our objective is more than bin Laden. But one of the things for certain is, we're going to get him running and keep him running, and bring him to justice. And that's what's happening. He's on the run, if he's running at all. So we don't know whether he's in a cave with the door shut or a cave with the door open. We just don't know. There's all kinds of reports and all kinds of speculation."
Particularly moved by the idea of bin Laden running if running at all, our brave boy decided to do his part by investigating local caves. We'll let you know what turns up, and whether that cave door was open or shut after all. One thing we can promise: there are NO dogs in those caves. Not anymore.
